Savonlinna Opera Festival
Date: July 5 to August 3, 2013
Initiated by Finnish soprano Aino Ackté, the festival was first held in 1912. Located in the city of Savonlinna in Finland, concerts take place at the medieval Olavinlinna (St. Olaf’s Castle), which is surrounded by spectacular lake scenery. Having grown into an internationally recognised festival spanning across a month, the event features not only leading works from classical operatic repertoire, but also stages its own productions.
