Taking place since 1939 at the Spanish famous gourmet hub San Sebastián, the festival is one of the oldest and most important cultural offerings dedicated to music in Spain. The festival’s extensive program covers all genres and styles, ranging from early music to contemporary which feature performances of solo instruments, vocal, chamber ensembles, orchestras and choirs, opera and dance. The quality of their programmes and the reputation of its performing casts have earned the festival a great prestige. Big names like Placido Domingo, Alfredo Kraus, Luciano Pavarotti have all made their appearance on the Quincena stage. In the 2011 edition, the festival focuses on presenting works by Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók, Gustav Mahler and Jesús Guridi. Featured artists include Daniel Roth, Nikolai Lugansky, Casals Quartet and more.
