Country: Germany
Launched in 1969, the Festival is held annually in the city of Heidenheim. It aims to present operatic works, along with orchestral concerts and musically-related events.
In the 2010 edition, Puccini’s Tosca will be the major production, with Melba Ramos or Anne Lünenbürger as the leading lady, accompanied by Nürnberger Symphoniker, under the baton of the Festival’s Artistic Director Marcus R. Bosch. Der Räuber Hotzenplotz, an opera for children by Andreas N. Tarkmann, will be staged with baritone Martin Berner in the leading role. Meanwhile, Sibelius’ Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor will be played by Rebekka Hartmann, and the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. Recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger will team up with Ensemble LYRIARTE, to perform works by J. S. Bach, Telemann and Veracini. On the closing night, Nürnberger Symphoniker and soloists will deliver famous arias and excerpts, including O mio babbino caro from Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni.
