Mostly Mozart Festival

Website: http://mostlymozart.org/

Date: August 2 to 27, 2011
Country: United States

Taking place in the Lincoln Center campus, the Mostly Mozart Festival has dedicated to delivering world’s best music during the midsummer season every year since 1966. The festival was designed to provide a more informal ambience for concert-going, offering relatively inexpensive ticket prices and attracting both new and sophisticated music lovers. Whilst it started off to be experimental, the festival has been cited by countless numbers of New Yorkers as their first classical music experience. Acclaimed soloists such as Cecilia Bartoli, James Galway, and Mitsuko Uchida all made their U.S. debuts at Mostly Mozart. Apart from the exciting repertoires and casts, the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra is also a big highlight of the event.

The 2011 edition will continue to feature some of the greatest masters of our time, including Christian Tetzlaff, Iván Fischer, Takács Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Matthias Pintscher and more. Two insightful film programs on Igor Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex and The Rite of Spring will also be featured.
