Founded in 1986, the Macao International Music Festival has been an important cultural and artistic offering in the region. Outstanding classical music performances will be held at various World Heritage sites, creating an unique ambience combining architecture and the culture of music. Besides featuring western classical music concerts, the festival has also infused recitals of various Chinese instruments to promote the tradition of Chinese music.

As the festival celebrates its 25th edition in 2011, a Broadway musical will be featured for the very first time in festival history as renowned ensembles like Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Fauré Quartet, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Chorus, Juilliard String Quartet, Festival Strings Lucerne and many more musicians gather on stage; Itzhak Perlman and many more world class performers will also be under the spotlight.
