Date: February 23 to April 2, 2010
Country: United Kingdom

The London Handel Festival was founded in 1978 by the London Handel Society Limited under the direction of Denys Darlow. One of its objectives is to promote the music of Handel and his contemporaries, and in particular, their less celebrated works. Comprising of some of the London’s finest professional baroque players, the London Handel Orchestra and London Handel Singers made their debut in 1981 at the festival. They will be joining soloists Lynda Lee, Andrew Kennedy, Gary Crichlow, David Allsopp and Lisandro Abadie to perform Belshazzar at the opening concert. The Handel Singing Competition will be held during the course of the festival with Ian Partridge as the Chairman of the Jury. J.S. Bach’s magnificent St. Matthew Passion will be played as a round-up of the whole festival.
