Since its first establishment in 1973, the festival has become one of the oldest musical events in Istanbul. The event features a wide variety of performance programmes covering classic music, classical ballet and contemporary dance, opera, folklore, jazz/pop, cinema, drama and visual arts from both Turkey and abroad. Apart from performances, one can also be involved in the seminars, conferences and lectures updating you the latest artistic development from reputable scholars. Ton Koopman, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, Riccardo Muti, Valery Gergiev are the big names who have participated in the event during its 35 years of running.
