Established in 1934 and supervised by the Christie family, the Glyndebourne Festival Opera is held annually at the Glyndebourne House in East Sussex. It is renowned for producing the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as the major resident orchestra. Since the 1990s, operatic works of other composers have also been included, and the repertoire has been expanding.

In the 76th edition of the Festival to be held this year, six operas will be presented. There will be two novel productions, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Billy Budd by Benjamin Britten. The remaining four are revivals of previous acclaimed performances, including Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Verdi’s Macbeth. Study events are available for the two newly launched productions, coming along with a series of pre-performance talks, and a family event for discovering the operatic components of the fairy tale opera Hänsel und Gretel, one of the works that will be staged.
