Perhaps a trip to the antipodes is on your schedule. In many ways, it’s a trip to an older culture, both of the native peoples and of the western arrivals. And yet, at the same time, cut away from the direct influences of European culture, the city has been developing its own voice and place in the musical world.

Morning:

you arrive and the country is at your feet:
Traditional: Jowelbinna

Afternoon:

Time to slow down, and perhaps a nap?
Peggy Glanville-Hicks: 3 Gymnopedies: Gymnopedie No. 1: Lento tranquillo
Percy Grainger: Dreamery
Malcolm Williamson: Concerto for 2 Pianos: II. Lento
Evening:

perhaps a concert or a show?
Elena Kats-Chernin: Fast Blue Village 2
Phillip Houghton: Stele: III. Bonze Apollo
Brett Dean: Game Over
Kate Miller-Heidke: The Rabbits: Where?

And some memories of the leading city of Australia
