Date: February 22 to March 2, 2010
Country: France
First held in 1992, the Orleans International Piano Competition was founded to promote the vast and exciting repertoire of the twentieth century, as interpreted by young performers. Besides the competitive aspect, the festival also focuses strongly on bringing together performers and composers to open up fresh interpretations of contemporary music. On average, approximately 100 applicants hailing from around 40 countries take part in each piano contest. The selected candidates compete for 15 valuable prizes, through which they are granted the chance to release their own records and attend international concert tours. Members of the Jury include pianists Hakon Austbô, Mi-Jo Lee, Jacques Lenot, Michael Levinas, Hideki Nagano, Emile Naoumoff and Boris Petrushansky.
