Chopin: 19 Polish Songs – No. 13. Dumkas: Nie ma czego trzeba (There is no need)

Vocal compositions requiring from the artist a competence in adjusting his creative work to the form and rhythm of another artist’s poetry, was unknown to a keyboard genius by the name of Chopin. This type of musical form seemed to infringe his freedom of musical expression. The nineteen well known Chopin’s songs for voice and piano (17 of them have been numbered consecutively in Opus 74) constitute a margin of the composer’s artistic output. Chopin himself did not consider these compositions significant as some of them had been composed while socializing with friends, by way of looking at a poetic text, improvising music and then dedicating the new songs to ladies singing them.
