I have a passion for music.

I was born in Shanghai into a family of musicians, moving to Paris in my early years. My mother, a professional pianist, always wanted me to make a career as a concert pianist, and I practised religiously for many years. When I left school, however, circumstances led me to enter the fashion business.

Nevertheless, after all those years of practising piano and going to concerts, my passion for classical music is undiminished.

These days, all my holidays are organized around musical events. And these musical excursions have evolved into something more comprehensive, more destination-driven, using the music as a hub for delving into the wider cultural context of a place. A destination may be chosen as much for the musical event it hosts as for its wealth of history, lively arts scene, breathtaking scenery or sumptuous gourmet cuisine. The whole journey then becomes a unique experience for all the senses, an adventure in aesthetics and lifestyle centred on and inspired by music.

Interlude is a platform for sharing my memories of events attended, cities visited, music savoured, my appreciation of museums, galleries, restaurants, and all the places that I have thoroughly enjoyed. They are actual experiences, and the comments are of course based on my personal taste and judgment.

Here you will find a list of music festivals and special events, with selections based on the quality and reputation of the event or destination. I certainly wish to visit them all one day!

And there is also a list of competitions, where we can listen to tomorrow’s stars, authentic young talents performing the music they love with passion and hope.

Welcome to Interlude. I hope that it inspires you to embark on your own voyage of musical and cultural discovery, and that you’ll come back and share your experiences with us.
